I was born in the slums of India, to a woman who didn’t want me. Abandoned on the steps of a hospital, left for dead. Unloved, unwanted, and prisoner of a caste system that hands down a life sentence of poverty on its victims, especially for people like me who were unlucky enough to be deemed, untouchable.
From the outside it appears as though I should have lived an impoverished, uneducated life. I should have been one of the billions living each day forced to fight for survival. That should have been me. But it wasn’t. Because, I was saved by a charitable act. Adopted by a family in Australia who chose to give up their money, their time, their love and welcome me into their family. Fighting all odds, bureaucracy, red tape and financial hurdles they adopted me. They took me in, loved me as their own and taught me how an act of selflessness can make a life- altering difference in the world.
This is my story. It’s what drives me, it’s why Charitabl. exists.
My goal is to make giving simple, enjoyable and safe. To show the world that a simple act of kindness can make a huge difference and that it doesn’t take much to change the life-story of someone you may never meet, helping them feel noticed, recognised, acknowledged, appreciated, valued. I believe that kind of love will change the world.
This is my story. This is the Charitabl. story.

For the longest time, I’ve cared about people. About meeting them where they are at, hearing them, and helping them.
And my career so far echoes that. I’ve tried my hand at many different things over the last 15 years. I’ve worked as a singer/songwriter, where my goals were not about making the charts, but rather about making people feel and put language to their emotions. I’ve studied social work, where my love for people and their stories swelled and I learnt to sit in the un-comfortability of difference, of grief, or experience. I then used those experiences to work in a not-for-profit that advocated for a marginalised people group. I spent 5 years in Executive level leadership where I learnt that some of the greatest strengths of the best leaders are not strategy, or an analytical mind, but rather empathy, and the ability to listen and truly hear people.
My personal life has echoed this too. In my late teens and early twenties, I overcame an eating disorder. I changed the trajectory of my future by changing my habits, staring my demons down and taking the courageous steps towards healing, both physically and mentally.
But the journey I am proudest of occurred in 2021. My daughter Magnolia was born in April of that year with a diagnosis at birth that completely changed the course of our lives in an instant. Instead of taking a healthy baby home from the hospital and carrying on with life as a little family, we were rushed into emergency, lifesaving surgeries, not once, but twice, and sent home with a baby that we would proceed to tube feed for the next 10 months. We navigated hospitals, appointments, specialists - all in strict Covid lockdown restrictions. It was hands down the most isolating period of my life, but also one I came to be grateful for. Because, in those moments of absolute loneliness, I sought connection. In the moments of absolute grief, I challenged myself to choose kindness. In the darkest moments of that season, I’d dream about creating a business, that made generosity more accessible to others.
Because I am a firm believer that a small act of kindness can change someone’s world. It’s what drives my work at Charitabl.
